Edith's First Birthday

Just after Thanksgiving we celebrated the first birthday of Edith Clementine with family and friends. We had a Plaid and Pancakes party. Why? Well, for one thing, we LOVE plaid at Christmastime. For another, pancakes are super easy and fun. And the best reason of all, so that Grandma Dina could make the most amazing cake ever! She has made all the birthday cakes for the girls' parties, but this time she outdid herself! I mean, IT'S PLAID! Poor Edie had a cold and wasn't quite herself, but she is a budding extrovert and fought to be a happy sweet little baby like normal. It was pathetic and adorable!

I can't believe sweet Edith is ONE?! She is a doll and the sweetest girl! Her monthly update is to come, but she really is a joy and we are so blessed to call her ours!

Edith 11 months

Oh why or why does this sweet girl keep growing!? She is such a doll, I wish I could bottle up this age :)

At 11 months, Edith:
  • wears size 12-18 months clothes.
  • has 6 teeth with 2 more seconds away from popping through.
  • hasn't tasted a solid food she doesn't like. She literally could eat and eat and eat.
  • gives high fives on command, roars like a lion, joins in her sisters playful screaming, sings along with music, signs "more", claps her hands while saying say and gives squishy toothy kisses.
  • is starting to climb, pull up to stand, and stand holding one hand.
  • still crawls by sliding on her stomach army style. Once she arrives at her location, she pops up to all fours, then sits or squats.
  • LOVES to be tickled softly.
  • HATES to have her diaper changed.
  • has a strong Mama preference and repeats "Mama" over and over unless she is with me.
  • loves other babies... real or dollies.
  • adores her big sisters!

Edith 9 month update

Growing growing growing! This little strawbaby is now in her 9th month! Her personality is starting to grow and she is so dearly loved!

At 9 months old, Edith:
  • is quite the chatterbox. She says "da da da da" on repeat constantly and pauses only to gurgle or squeal loudly.
  • is getting more attached to Squirrelly and loves to snuggle him to fall asleep.
  • still loves nursing, but is very easily distracted by the sounds of her sisters and whips her head back and forth trying to find them. Ouch! haha.
  • has the bluest sweetest eyes!
  • wears size 12-18 months.
  • loves to eat. Her favorite foods are greenbeans, Chipotle, ice water, anything salty or savory. She HATES carrots and sweet potatoes.
  • sleeps 11-12 hours a night. She occasionally wakes up once around 7, nurses and sleeps another hour.
  • is a giggle goose. Lulu and Papa get the most smiles and giggles.
  • is a Mama's girl and is starting to prefer for Mama to hold her or at least always be in the same room.
  • has three teeth.... on the bottom. Her top teeth have been coming in for a whole MONTH, but the gums just keep stretching! I've been saying "any day" for a while now, but I really think it will be any day now haha.
  • hates sunglasses but likes hats.
  • is easy going enough to nap on the go if needed. Which most days means she will take a 20 minute morning nap in the car while we are out and about.
  • loves water! The bath and the pool are always a big hit!
  • is starting to crawl. Sorta. She does a sort of army crawl and she moves forward by shear will. Time to baby proof and remind the big girls constantly to pick up the small toys.
  • is squishy delishy delightful :)

Teething

Can we all agree that teething is rough? I have heard Edith cry more this week than her entire life. Which isn't really all that much haha. But it still totally sucks to see her in pain. She is getting her top teeth and they are taking their sweet time. We got these Kleynimals just in time! Edith is obsessed. I don't know if it's the coolness of the metal, the fun clink they make, or the fact that they seem just like my real keys, but she is hooked! She frantically reaches for them as soon as she sees them and loves to chew on them constantly. I love that they are cute and clean! "They are non-toxic stainless steel toy keys that will satisfy your child’s desire to play with metal keys without the hazards of lead contamination, sharp edges, or the daily grime that come with the keys in the bottom of your diaper bag." I'm also happy to find an alternative to handing Edith my nasty car seats when she wants them. She is getting so grabby lately, I feel so much better about giving her something safe and fun for her to play with while she is satisfying the "keys urge" haha.

Edith: 8 months

Edith Clementine is 8 months old! She is such a delight! A squishy delishy ball of smiles :)
At 8 months, Edith:
  • has two bottom teeth. Her two top teeth are so (painfully) close to popping through.
  • LOVES to eat. She loves to eat purees but also loves the chew some solids. Her favorite foods include: green beans, carnitas, pickles, applesauce, and Chipotle rice.
  • sleeps on her tummy with Squirrelly under her arm. She loves sleeping and sleeps 11-12 hours a night. She takes 2 naps but sometimes squeezes in a third if her afternoon nap wasn't long enough.
  • rolls from back to stomach easily but can't roll back the other way. She is starting to reach and spin around on her tummy trying to get to the toys she wants.
  • is super interactive. She delights in her sisters and can't wait to see them and play with them.
  • is starting to play peek-a-boo. I'm fairly certain she actually said "boo" one time when we were playing. She has only said it once or twice, but is it possible to say your first word at 8 months???
  • loves water. Playing and splashing in the YMCA pool is her jam!
  • wears size 12-18 months clothes.
We just love this little girl!

DockATot

DockATot is something we recently discovered. People are RAVING about it and we finally understand why. We put Edith down for a nap, she giggled like it was a game, then she rolled to her side and sung herself to sleep all cozy in her little cocoon. You guys... it was adorable!!!

According the to DockATot website, the "DockATot™ has been designed to offer a safe, snug and soothing environment for babies. We like to think it's the next best thing to the womb. Babies can rest, play and lounge without the restrictions of buckles or the distraction of bells and whistles." It's a perfect place to prop up baby for tummy time or a sweet spot for a nap. It is made with hypoallergenic materials that are also breathable. As a Mama of a little one who had a very scary accident a few years ago, this is a product that eases the fear of babies rolling around while sleeping. I wish that I had this when Edith was smaller because she is a tummy sleeper and it always made me nervous, especially since Lulu's accident.

We were given a Coral Trellis DockATot deluxe (just like the one pictured) to review and GIVE AWAY! This is perfect for ages 0-8 months. I'm just so excited to share the love! Just comment below by answering this question: "What would you do with an extra hour or two of peaceful baby sleep?" If that extra hour or two of baby sleep meant that the big sisters were also sleeping, I would probably take a shower without an audience, drink coffee while it was still hot, and spend some time reading my bible! As a Mama of littles, it's sad how hard it is to do those three things. But that's another post for another time. For more chances to win, visit @hopefeathers on Instagram to like/comment! Good luck!

Binxy Baby

When we had our third child, I wondered how I wouldn't perform basic tasks while being so outnumbered! I mean, I have only two hands, but three children! My biggest concern was how in the world to take three kids three and under to grab groceries. I couldn't wear our nearly 10 lb newborn because I had a c-section. If I used our double stroller, I had room for children, but not groceries. If I shopped at Target, I could use those extra long bus-like crazy carts with the two kid compartment, but I hated putting the baby in her carseat on top of the cart because it didn't feel safe. Then I discovered the Binxy Baby shopping cart hammock and LIFE CHANGED!

Edith now rolls around like the Princess of Target greeting all who see her with smiles and coos. I have yet to shop with her in the hammock without 1, 2 or 12 people stopping us to comment on the genius invention! Meanwhile, I still have the entire cart basket to fill with groceries (and impulse purchases). We have used our Binxy Baby since Edith was just a few weeks old. She is now nearly 8 months old, still fits and still loves it! Of course it will no longer be recommend once she is starting to sit up in it. But even then, I can still put her carseat safely in the hammock and strap the car seat in it! The whole hands free shopping with three kids seemed like the mythical unicorn of grocery shopping, but thanks to Binxy Baby, it's now a reality!

According the the website, "our comfy Binxy Baby shopping cart hammock quickly and easily clips onto most carts, hangs elevated so you have plenty of room for groceries, then simply rolls up to fit in your purse or diaper bag when finished. Most infant car seats sit snugly inside the Shopping Cart Hammock™ and can be secured using the included safety strap."

Binxy Baby recently released a new print! We have loved and used our grey and aqua quatrefoil, but we were given a triangle print hammock (just like the one pictured) to review and GIVE AWAY! Thanks right, folks! I'm just so excited to share the love! Just comment below by answering this question: "What section at Target is mostly likely to temp you with impulse purchases?" Mine would definitely be the seasonal section! Specifically at Christmas, but oh the summer Patio and Garden stuff are tempting this year!
